Your reps, your data.

The short version

• You can record a set before you have an account. It stays on your phone until you sign up.
• Your attempt videos are private by default. Nothing you record is visible to anyone else until you choose to publish it, one set at a time: to a group you have joined, to the global board, or as a share link.
• What is public is what the product is: your handle, your verified scores, and your ranks on the boards.
• No ads, no data sales, and no tracking you across other apps. We do use an error reporting service to find crashes and failures.
• Deleting an attempt deletes its video. Deleting your account deletes everything.

What we collect

Account. You sign in with Apple or Google, and we receive your name and email from that provider. Your public identity is a handle you choose; your name and email are never shown to other users. Bodyweight, birth year and gender are optional; declaring bodyweight and gender is what places you in a division on the board, and you can leave them blank and compete on the open board instead.

Attempts. When you record a set we store the rep count and per-rep verdicts, a confidence score, timestamps, the video of your set, and a pose trace (a series of body-landmark coordinates derived from the video). The video and trace are what let us verify your score on our servers instead of taking your word for it.

No location. RepCheck does not ask for or store your location. Where you record is your business.

Diagnostics. The app reports crashes and errors to Sentry, an error monitoring service, so we can find failures we would otherwise never hear about. A report carries the fault, your app version and device model, and a short trail of what the app was doing beforehand (for example: a set was recorded, an upload failed). It is tied to your account only where a failure concerns your own attempt.

Nothing else. The app contains no advertising SDKs, no marketing analytics and no ad identifiers. We do not track you across other apps or websites.

Your videos and pose data

Attempt videos are stored privately and, by default, are viewable only by you inside the app, through expiring links tied to your account. Our verification system processes them to confirm your score and to investigate disputed or flagged results. They are never used for advertising and never used to train third-party AI models.

Publishing is always something you do, one set at a time, and never a default. A set you record is private until you choose one of these:

• Publish to a group. The set appears in that group’s feed, with your handle and your count, to the people in it. Groups are joined by invite code.
• Publish to the global board. The set can stand on the public leaderboard, where anyone using RepCheck can see your handle, your count and the clip.
• Share a link. A result page at repcheck.site/r/… that anyone with the link can open, including people without the app.

You can undo any of these by deleting the set, which removes it everywhere and permanently deletes its video.

How we use your data

• To verify your reps: our servers re-check every rep you record.
• To rank you: your verified best places you on the global board.
• To keep boards honest: anti-cheat checks, dispute resolution, and rate limiting.

What is public

The leaderboard shows your handle, your verified best and your rank, plus a preview frame of the set behind it. If you have declared a bodyweight or gender, they place you in a division — the values themselves are not shown to anyone else. Sets you publish to a group are visible to that group’s members, and to nobody else. A result page you share (repcheck.site/r/…) is visible to anyone with the link, and only exists because you chose to share it. Sets you have shared may also be featured on this site’s home page, with your handle, your count and your rank. Only sets you published are ever used this way; deleting the attempt, or your account, removes it.

Where your data lives

We use Supabase for hosting, authentication and storage, Fly.io for verification compute, and Sentry for crash and error reporting. They process data on our behalf and under our instructions. Sign-in providers (Apple, Google) handle authentication when you choose them. We never sell your data and we share it with no one else, except where the law requires it.

Retention and deletion

Attempts stay in your history until you delete them. Deleting an attempt removes it from your history and every board, and permanently deletes its video. Deleting your account (Settings, Delete account) permanently deletes your profile, attempt history, board entries, and your stored videos and pose traces. Residual copies in encrypted backups clear on the backup cycle shortly after.

Reporting and blocking

Anything another person has published can be reported from the app. A report records what you reported, why, and that it came from you, so we can act on it and so the same account cannot be reported repeatedly by one person to silence them. We review reports and remove content that breaks the rules, which can include removing a set or an account.

You can also block another athlete. Blocking hides their sets from your boards and feeds, and hides yours from theirs. Blocks are private: the other person is not told.

Your rights

You can access, correct, export, or delete your data. Most of it you can do directly in the app; for anything else, email james.rowbotham.work@gmail.com and we will handle it. If you are in the EU or UK, these are your GDPR rights, and you can also complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

RepCheck is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. A material change will be announced in the app before it takes effect.
